The Latest Trends in Lash Extensions
The world of lash styling is constantly evolving. Not long ago, the internet was buzzing about Kim K effect lashes and the wet look lashes, also known as " wet look". Now, it’s all about the rising trend of Anime Lashes.
What is the Anime Lashes Style?
Originally popular in the Cosplay scene, false lashes inspired by Anime are now confidently making their way into everyday lash styling. The look draws inspiration from characters in manga and anime. That’s why these lash sets are often referred to as Anime Lashes, taking cues from anime series and films, or Manga Lashes, in reference to the well-known Japanese comic books.
Are Natural-Looking Lashes a Thing of the Past?
The Anime Lashes trend takes inspiration from Japanese cartoons and manga characters, known for their dramatic appearance. It’s no wonder that the first thing that comes to mind is their huge eyes with beautifully long lash fans. The anime lash effect is a far cry from the soft, natural lash extensions we’re used to—but that’s exactly the point. Manga Lashes are bold, eye-catching, and absolutely unforgettable!
What Do Anime-Style Lashes Look Like?
Very long lash fans are applied unevenly along the natural lash line. The result is a slightly messy, tearful-eye effect. Much like the wet look lashes, these fans are grouped together to form longer, bolder clusters. What stands out the most is the dramatic contrast in length between the spikes (strategically placed longer lashes) and the surrounding shorter sections.
Feathered Lashes
In Poland, Anime Lashes are often referred to as feathered lash styling or arrow lashes—and for good reason. The signature shape of these lash fans, wider in the middle and tapered precisely at the tips, closely resembles a feather. Despite the bold result, these lashes are incredibly light and almost unnoticeable on the eyelid. As light as... a feather.
How to Achieve the Anime Lash Effect?
Anime Lash extensions are a fresh new trend, making their way from social media into beauty salons. Many lash artists are unsure how to approach this bold style—make sure you're ready! Here's how to create anime lashes step by step.
Step 1. Prep the Natural Lashes
Before application, thoroughly cleanse the lashes using a dedicated primer or a micellar water. For easier application, divide the upper lashes into 2–3 layers using lash tape.
Step 2. Where to Place the Spikes?
Place the characteristic “spikes”—the longer lash clusters—according to the desired outcome.
- To create an open-eye effect, start by identifying the centre of the eyelid and placing the spikes there, then continue placing them every 3–5 mm apart.
- If you're aiming for a foxy eyes effect, concentrate the "spikes" on the outer corners of the eyes.
Step 3. Applying the Anime Lash Fans
Now move on to applying the specially designed Anime lash fans from Noble Lashes. Of course, you can create your own fans using individual lashes of varying lengths, but that will take significantly more time.
- Make sure there’s a noticeable difference in length between the spikes and the filler lashes placed in between. Aim for a 5 mm difference in length for the best effect.
Step 4. Filling the Gaps Between the Spikes
In the gaps between the feathered spikes that define the Manga Lashes effect, apply lashes that are around 5 mm shorter. For this step, we recommend using softer, more natural-looking Russian Volume 2D fans.
Step 5. Final Touches
To finish the look, gently brush through the lashes, check for symmetry, and ensure the final result meets your client’s expectations. Then let her enjoy her brand-new lash transformation!
