TPO officially added to the list of banned ingredients – find out what it means for lash stylists
From September 1, 2025, cosmetic products containing TPO can no longer be legally sold or used in the European Union.
In this article you will learn:
➤ What TPO is and why it has been banned.
➤ What consequences await for using products with TPO after the ban.
➤ How to choose safe lash adhesives without TPO.
What exactly is TPO?
TPO (Trimethylbenzoyl Diphenylphosphine Oxide) is a photoinitiator used in UV-cured products – such as hybrid nail polishes and lash adhesives. Its role was to accelerate bonding, but toxicological studies have shown it may pose a serious health risk. The EU has classified TPO as CMR 1B – potentially carcinogenic and harmful to fertility.
Ban on TPO in practice – what changes from September 2025?
From today, any product containing TPO becomes illegal on the European market. For salon owners this means removing all adhesives and cosmetics with this ingredient from their offer. Using them at work may result in fines and sanctions during inspections by relevant authorities.
- September 1, 2025 – official ban on TPO in cosmetics throughout the EU.
- Products with TPO cannot be used or sold – sanctions apply.
- All lash adhesives in the Noble Lashes offer are free from TPO – safe and compliant.
