How to create ombre brows using henna or dye?
No matter if you’re using henna or brow dye – knowing these 5 steps will help you achieve a flawless result.
- Clean the skin thoroughly – Properly cleansed brows and skin are crucial for any colouring. Residual sebum, makeup, or previous tint can affect the durability and shade of the new look.
Use a peeling to remove sebum and dead skin cells. Then rinse off any residue using the lash & brow shampoo. - Start applying product from the tail to the front of the brow – This is a key rule in ombre colouring. Applying the product from the tail allows henna or dye to stay longer where you want more intensity.
Leave the brow beginnings for the end – this ensures the lightest result in that area. - Use stamping brush movements – Avoid rubbing or smudging the product. Instead, gently press the product into the skin to maintain better control over the gradient.
You can press more firmly at the tail, but use gentle motions at the beginning of the brow for a natural fade. - Soft, light brow beginning – Remember, the start of the brow should be light and semi-transparent. Use a very thin layer of product, applied with an almost dry angled brush.
- Watch the time! – Don't leave the product on the entire brow for the same amount of time. Remove colour from the brow beginning (where hairs are naturally finer) after about 1–2 minutes. Then remove the middle, and leave the tail for the longest-lasting result.
Which brow colouring method is best?
Whether you choose dye or henna powder, you can achieve an ombre brow effect. Choose your product based on the result your client wants. Brow dye provides a softer, more natural look, while henna powder allows for a stronger, makeup-like effect.
