Why Isn't My Lash Adhesive Bonding Properly? Discover the Secrets to Perfect Retention
A client comes to you with a complaint that her lash extensions have fallen out after just a few days? Or perhaps during the application itself, you feel that the synthetic lash is simply “sliding” over the natural lash and refuses to create a durable bond? Before assuming the product is defective, ask yourself one crucial question: have you definitely chosen the right adhesive for your working conditions and application speed?
In this article, you will learn:
➤ The most common mistake when choosing adhesives
➤ Adhesive and salon conditions
➤ Adhesive and application speed
➤ What should you remember during lash application?
➤ Which adhesive should you choose?
The Most Common Mistake: “Recommended by Someone Else”
Remember the golden rule: your adhesive must suit the conditions in your salon, not those in another lash stylist’s studio. Just because an experienced colleague or a well-known trainer recommends a particular adhesive does not automatically mean it will perform well in your environment.
Every salon has its own unique microclimate. The performance of an adhesive is influenced by virtually everything: the type of heating system, the presence of air conditioning, the weather outside, and even the number of plants in the room or the size of the windows.
How Do Salon Conditions Affect the Adhesive Drop?
The ideal conditions for most standard lash adhesives are warm temperatures and moderate humidity. But what should you do when these parameters fall too low or rise dramatically? Instead of guessing, carefully observe the behaviour of the adhesive drop on your jade stone or glass palette:
- Too cold and too dry: If the adhesive drop spreads almost immediately across the stone, becoming very flat and runny, it is a clear sign that the temperature and humidity are too low. The adhesive will cure extremely slowly, causing synthetic lashes to shift out of place.
- Too humid: If the drop hardens quickly and develops a characteristic white residue on the surface (polymerisation shock), your hygrometer is showing excessive humidity. The adhesive cures too quickly—before you have time to accurately place the extension onto the isolated natural lash.
- Too warm: If the drop turns into a thick, stringy blob within a very short time, the temperature in your salon is far too high. In these conditions, the adhesive rapidly loses its bonding properties and becomes unsuitable for application.

Pay Attention to Drying Speed and Match the Adhesive to Your Working Pace
Another key pillar of excellent retention is choosing the right adhesive drying speed. The curing time must match your individual working pace.
For beginners, an adhesive with a medium drying speed is the best option. It provides valuable extra time to position the extension correctly and make adjustments if needed. More experienced lash stylists who work quickly and efficiently should opt for fast-drying adhesives (one-second or half-second formulas).
If, as a beginner, you choose an ultra-fast adhesive, it may cure on the extension before it even reaches the client’s natural lash. The result? An attachment that appears secure but falls off immediately when brushed through for the first time.
Do Not Brush Through the Lashes During Application!
Want to eliminate the risk of poor retention and unsafe bonding? Do not brush through the lashes while you are working.
Brushing lashes before the adhesive has fully completed the polymerisation process severely disrupts newly formed chemical bonds. This can lead to microscopic fractures within the adhesive bond, reduced retention, and—most importantly—a high risk of creating painful and unattractive stickies, which can damage the client’s natural lashes. Thorough brushing should only be performed at the very end of the treatment, once the entire set has been completed.

Not Sure Which Adhesive to Choose? Check Out Our Quick Guide!
To make everyday decisions in the salon easier, we have prepared a clear and practical guide in table format, designed in line with Noble Lashes’ elegant and minimalist visual identity. Find out which product will solve your specific challenge:
Adhesive for High Humidity
When humidity levels in your salon rise dramatically, standard adhesives cure too quickly, making proper application impossible and causing lashes to fall off almost immediately due to polymerisation shock.
The solution is the Green Adhesive by Noble Lashes, specifically formulated to remain stable even in high-humidity environments. Its formula is designed to maintain an optimal curing time under challenging conditions.
Adhesive for Low Humidity
Dry air in the salon (particularly during the heating season) causes the adhesive drop to cure too slowly, making synthetic lashes “slide” and preventing proper attachment to natural lashes.
The perfect solution for dry conditions is the reliable, fast-drying Fast Adhesive by Noble Lashes. It is designed for efficient lash stylists who require rapid bonding in low-humidity environments.
Adhesive for a Wide Range of Conditions
Unpredictable weather, inconsistent air conditioning, or frequent temperature fluctuations throughout the day require an adhesive that can tolerate changing environmental conditions.
For this purpose, the exceptionally versatile and adaptable Green Adhesive by Noble Lashes is the ideal choice. Thanks to its unique formulation, it performs exceptionally well in dynamically changing salon environments.
Adhesive for Sensitive Clients
Strong cyanoacrylate fumes may cause redness, watery eyes, and even allergic reactions in sensitive or predisposed individuals during and after treatment.
To maximise comfort for allergy-prone clients, we developed the low-fume Sensitive Adhesive by Noble Lashes, which helps minimise the risk of irritation around the delicate eye area.

Monitor the temperature and humidity in your salon using a precise hygrometer, choose the right adhesive from the guide above to match your working pace, and enjoy flawless retention for up to 6 weeks!
