Lower Lash Extensions – Everything You Need to Know

23 - 07 - 2026

The lash extension industry is constantly evolving, and lash artists are always looking for new ways to stand out from the competition and offer their clients beautiful styling results. Although lower lash extensions have been around for some time, for many people they are still a mysterious and slightly challenging treatment. It’s time to change that!

Lower lash extensions – is it worth adding this service to your offer?

This subtle addition to a classic lash set can completely transform the look of the eyes and significantly increase the value of the treatment with only a small amount of extra time. Why should you add it to your service menu?

  • More depth to the eyes: Full, dramatic upper lash extensions combined with barely visible lower lashes can create an unbalanced effect. Adding a delicate lower lash application restores proportions and creates a more harmonious look.
  • Maximum comfort for your client: Forget about smudged mascara under the eyes and the “panda eye” effect. Extended lower lashes look flawless all day long.
  • Higher service value (Upselling): Lower lash extensions are a perfect add-on service that can increase the average ticket value in your salon.

Are lower lash extensions safe?

This is one of the most common questions – asked by both clients and beginner lash artists. The answer is: yes, as long as proper procedure and hygiene rules are followed.

Working on the lower lash line requires extra precision and a gentle approach:

    • The client’s eye may be slightly open, which increases the risk of irritation from adhesive fumes – choosing a low-fume lash adhesive is essential.
    • Accurate and stable isolation of the upper and lower lashes is necessary.
    • Choose under-eye pads and hydrogel patches that are especially gentle for the thin skin under the eyes.
Noble Lashes Tip: Client safety and comfort depend 90% on your manual skills and the quality of the products you use. Always choose high-quality accessories designed for the sensitive eye area.

Which technique should you use for lower lash extensions?

Lower lashes are usually much thinner and more delicate than upper lashes. To avoid putting too much weight on the natural lash and ensure comfortable wear, it is best to choose lightweight application techniques:

      • Classic 1:1 Method: The basic and safest technique, most commonly chosen for lower lash styling. It creates a natural and neat effect.
      • Soft Volume (2D–3D): Perfect for very sparse lashes or small gaps. This technique requires very thin lash extensions (for example, 0.05 mm or 0.07 mm thickness).

How long do lower lash extensions last?

Lower lashes, due to their naturally more delicate structure and faster growth cycle, may last slightly shorter than upper lash extensions. The average retention time is 2 to 4 weeks. However, remember that the actual longevity of the set largely depends on proper aftercare at home.

Factors that shorten lower lash extension retention:

FactorImpact on retention
Rubbing the eyes Weakens the adhesive bond and causes premature lash shedding.
Oily cosmetics and eye creams Oil-based ingredients break down the adhesive bond.
Sebum on the lower eyelid Natural sebum production in this area can speed up the detachment of the extensions.
