Pre-treatment form before lash styling - 3 questions that can save your application
Lash styling begins long before opening the adhesive. It is the conversation and a properly prepared pre-treatment form that help avoid many problems, from poorly chosen styling, through weak retention, to complaints and misunderstandings with the client.
This is not about creating pages of documentation. A few well-asked questions are enough to help you better understand the client’s needs and perform the treatment safely.

1. Is this your first time getting lash extensions?
For an experienced client, lash application is something completely natural. She knows what the treatment looks like, what to expect and how to care for the styling after leaving the salon.
The situation is different when the person lying on your treatment bed has never had lash extensions before.
It is worth explaining to such a client:
- how the treatment will proceed,
- how long the styling will take,
- what sensations are normal during the treatment,
The better you prepare the client for her first visit, the greater her comfort and trust in you as a specialist will be.
Lash Tip: If the client is coming for lash styling for the first time, keep her informed about the next stages of the treatment. A few simple messages significantly reduce stress and make the visit feel more professional.
2. What effect are you looking for?
This is one of the most important questions in the entire pre-treatment consultation.
Clients often use the same terms while meaning completely different effects. For one person, “natural” means a subtle enhancement of the eye, while for another it means strong volume worn every day.
That is why it is worth clarifying expectations and asking:
- whether she wants a natural or more expressive effect,
- whether she prefers more length or more volume,
- whether she has an inspiration photo,
- how she does her makeup on a daily basis.
The last question is especially helpful. A client who wears strong eye makeup every day will usually expect a completely different effect than someone who does not use mascara and prefers a very natural look.
Remember, however, that the client’s expectations are not everything. The final choice of styling should also take into account the condition of the natural lashes and the anatomy of the eye.
Remember! Not every dream styling will be safe for natural lashes. The role of a professional stylist is to propose a solution that is both beautiful and safe.
3. Have you ever experienced an allergic reaction after lash styling?
This question can protect both the client and the stylist from a very unpleasant situation. If the client has previously experienced an allergic reaction after a lash application, you need to know about it before starting the treatment.
Take care of the client before and after the treatment
In addition to the conversation during the first visit, it is also worth giving the client a written pre-treatment form. This way, all the most important information is kept in one place. It not only makes your work easier, but also increases safety and allows you to return to this information during future visits.
Lash Tip: After the treatment, it is worth giving the client aftercare instructions and a lash brush for daily combing. Thanks to clear instructions, the client knows how to properly care for her lashes.

Professionalism is in the details
A pre-treatment form, aftercare instructions and home-care products are small elements that build client trust and raise the standard of service.
