Microblading – What You Need to Know
Natural eyebrows don't always look neat and aesthetically pleasing. They may be too light, sparse, or grow unevenly. And yet, well-groomed brows have a significant impact on the overall appearance of the face. That’s why many women include filling in and defining their eyebrows as part of their daily makeup routine. However, there is a way to enhance your brows without spending time drawing them every day. We're talking about the innovative permanent makeup method known as microblading. If you’re interested in products related to this treatment, we invite you to explore the microblading category in our online store.
Eyebrow microblading, or permanent makeup, is the perfect solution for women who don’t have much time or struggle to maintain their brows daily. It’s especially recommended for those who want symmetrical, even-looking eyebrows, which aren’t always easy to achieve with standard makeup. It’s also a great option for anyone who has lost their brows due to illness or chemotherapy. The treatment is also suitable for people with asymmetrically positioned eyes or visible scarring.
What is eyebrow microblading?
Microblading is a technique that involves drawing individual hair strokes onto the skin. Using a tiny blade, a skilled technician deposits pigment just beneath the surface of the skin. The process involves making fine incisions that mimic the shape of natural hairs, into which the pigment is then inserted. This form of permanent makeup creates a soft, natural look of fine, delicate brow hairs. The final results become fully visible after about a week—once any minor swelling has gone down and the pigment has settled. However, the effect can last anywhere from one to two years.
It’s important to understand that microblading is only the illusion of adding hairs to the skin. It does not actually thicken natural brows or stimulate hair growth. The final appearance depends heavily on the skills and experience of the stylist, which is why you should always choose trusted beauty salons that use high-quality pigments. Before booking your appointment, it's a good idea to ask friends for recommendations or browse beauty forums and social media groups for honest reviews and suggestions.
What does the procedure look like step by step?
The entire microblading procedure takes about one hour. Three weeks prior to the treatment, clients should avoid altering the shape or appearance of their eyebrows. This means no plucking or tinting is recommended. On the day of the procedure, arrive with clean skin and no makeup on the brows. An essential step before beginning microblading is a thorough medical consultation, during which the client should disclose any medications they are taking, as well as any chronic conditions or health concerns. Based on this information, the stylist will determine whether there are any contraindications for the procedure.
Once all preparations for microblading are complete, the treatment begins. First, the technician applies a numbing cream to the brows and surrounding area, ensuring the procedure is comfortable, completely painless, and safe. The next step is selecting a pigment color that matches the natural hair shade. Using a pencil and templates, the technician draws the outline of the desired brow shape. Once the client approves the shape, the stylist proceeds with the procedure by inserting pigment beneath the skin. This is done by making precise, shallow incisions using a special microblading pen.
Contraindications
Most beauty salons require clients to complete a special questionnaire before the procedure, confirming their stable health condition, absence of chronic illnesses, and listing any medications they are taking. If any contraindications are identified in the form, the procedure may be cancelled. Some salons also reserve the right to refuse complaints from clients who are dissatisfied with the final results. This is especially important to note, as microblading results can last up to two years.
The precautions for eyebrow microblading are very similar to those for traditional tattooing. The most common complications include pigment migration, color change, or unintended hyperpigmentation. Serious issues are rare and usually result from a temporary or long-term allergic reaction to pigment ingredients, or from the lack of proper skills of the person performing the treatment. For these reasons, it's essential to always verify the stylist’s experience and qualifications, as well as the quality of the products they use.
Many salons require clients to complete a pre-treatment questionnaire, confirming their stable health, absence of chronic conditions, and disclosing any medications. If any contraindications are revealed, the treatment may be cancelled.
Some beauty salons reserve the right not to accept complaints from clients who are dissatisfied with the results. Since the effect can last up to two years, it’s worth choosing a salon that honors such claims.
How to care for your eyebrows after a microblading procedure?
One of the most important aspects of eyebrow microblading is proper aftercare, which helps maintain long-lasting results. It’s important to remember that the procedure involves breaking the skin's surface, so during the first few days you should avoid touching, rubbing, or wetting the area excessively. It's best to use a special ointment with allantoin or a tattoo care product. The first application should be about 3 hours after the procedure, and it should be reapplied every 5–6 hours using a cotton pad.
On the day of the treatment and for the following 3–4 days, do not use soap or any facial skincare products, especially those intended for the eye area. These often contain ingredients that can irritate freshly treated skin and cause complications such as swelling and redness. It’s also recommended to avoid wearing makeup for around two weeks. In some cases, scabs may form on the skin. Under no circumstances should you scratch or pick at them. Additionally, be mindful not to dry out the skin around the brows. For this reason, it’s best to avoid direct sunlight and refrain from using the sauna or swimming pool.
How much does eyebrow microblading cost and how long do the results last?
The cost of microblading depends largely on the chosen beauty salon, the location, and the quality of pigment used. On average, including the touch-up session after about three weeks, the price ranges from 450 to 800 PLN. The relatively high price of this treatment is due to the fact that it is a specialist procedure requiring advanced skills, precision, experience, and extensive knowledge of cosmetology, skin physiology, and pigmentation techniques. The person performing the treatment should also have a strong sense of aesthetics and demonstrate true professionalism. Moreover, microblading often involves the use of high-quality materials, blades, and specialized products.
A follow-up correction should be done around 4 to 8 weeks after the initial microblading session, as the pigment fully stabilizes in the skin within approximately 28 days. Only after this period is the final result visible. The purpose of the touch-up is to fill in any fading strokes, refine the shape, enhance the color, and add extra density to the brows. After that, microblading should be refreshed once a year.
