The first and most fundamental step to properly start your journey with eyelash extensions and thickening is to choose a professional company to train with. It should be a company that offers high-quality products at affordable prices. It is also important that the company is constantly developing, because potential lash stylists will grow and evolve along with it.
Find a Good Instructor
The next, equally important step is choosing an instructor who will teach you how to properly perform the treatment from A to Z. The instructor should have many years of experience in the industry. A professional training course consists of an extensive theoretical part and many hours of hands-on practice. Never choose a trainer in a rush—take your time to read reviews, look at their work and their students' results, and call them to clarify any doubts. Usually, after a phone conversation, you can tell whether you're dealing with a true professional and whether you'd like to be trained by that person. Remember, you always start with the basic course, which is the 1:1 eyelash extension course — it forms the foundation for all other methods. After a few months of practice, when you feel confident in performing the treatment and your instructor sees from your work that you're ready, you can proceed to volume techniques training, express methods, and lower lash extension training.
Promote Yourself
The next step is working independently after your training. By taking before and after photos of your work, you build your portfolio. To promote yourself, post these photos on online forums and create your own Facebook profile. You can also create a physical album to show to friends and encourage them to try your services. The best form of advertising is word of mouth—satisfied clients who recommend you to others. Your client will feel appreciated if she receives a small gift for referring someone. Set up a system of offering discounts on refills for clients who bring in new customers. This will strongly motivate them to recommend you as their lash stylist.
Individual Approach
Be kind to your clients, smile often, and really listen to them. They come to you not only to enhance their beauty but also to relax and chat. You're a bit like a confidante. Play relaxing music, light some candles, and create a cozy atmosphere in your salon space. During the treatment, be gentle, don’t rush, and perform the application properly without mistakes. Reserve plenty of time for each client so she feels truly special. Treat your clients the way you would like to be treated yourself. That way, they will always come back to you with joy.
Choosing Lashes and Aftercare
Each client should be treated individually. For every woman, we select the lashes in a way that makes her feel beautiful, natural, and unique. Be sure to record the lengths, thicknesses, and curl types used next to the client’s name. Remember that in addition to the aesthetic aspect, lashes must be properly selected from a technical perspective so that they don’t strain the natural lashes. Your instructor will teach you all of this during training. They will also explain how to choose lashes according to the client’s specific eye shape.
After the treatment, inform your client about the aftercare instructions. Give her a leaflet, a lash brush, a loyalty card for future appointments, and business cards with your phone number, which she can give to friends. Hang posters of lash extension brands in your salon — they will add a highly professional touch to your space.
To keep your clients, treat them with respect—value their time and money. Set clear prices for treatments and refills so clients are always prepared for a specific amount. Don’t set prices that are too high or too low. A price that’s too low can be off-putting. Return client calls and reply to text messages. Perform each treatment at 100% effort—give it your all. Be a perfectionist. Your clients will appreciate it. Offer promotions and discounts for both new and loyal clients so no one feels left out. Stock up on supplies so you never run out of anything. Make sure you have a variety of curls, thicknesses, and lengths available—even colored lashes. Rhinestone lash accents and other sparkling details are also a welcome touch.
Keep Growing
Continue developing your skills—train in new eyelash extension methods, attend beauty trade shows, and introduce new services to your offer. Most importantly, don’t give up. Be patient—everything takes time.
Clients need to trust you and hear about you. Slowly but surely, your lash business will take off.
