Before the Treatment
The most important thing to remember before visiting your lash stylist is to come without any makeup on your lashes or eyelids – ideally, perform a thorough makeup removal at home so the treatment can begin immediately upon arrival. The lash extension procedure can take up to four hours. Since the treatment can be time-consuming, it's recommended to arrive well-rested and after a meal.
Clients with light-colored lashes can consider tinting them with henna before the appointment to even out their color and slightly darken them – this can make the stylist’s work easier. When choosing a beauty salon, it’s worth doing some research and selecting one that uses high-quality products and employs skilled, experienced professionals.
After the Treatment
For the first 48 hours after the treatment, it’s important to follow a few rules to avoid damaging the lashes and to ensure their longevity. One of the key guidelines is to avoid moisture, steam, hot air from hairdryers, or exposing lashes to direct water streams (e.g., in the shower). These can weaken the glue and cause the lashes to fall out more quickly.
Replace your makeup remover with a light micellar water (avoid oil-based or dual-phase products, as these can weigh down the lashes), and be gentle when removing makeup. Avoid touching or rubbing your eyes – this can disrupt the structure of the extensions or deform their appearance. The beautiful lash fan effect usually lasts over a month, so it’s a good idea to visit your stylist for a refill after that time.
